ABOUT SHELL PILATES

Shell Pilates is a boutique Pilates studio situated in Bergvliet, in Cape Town’s Southern suburbs.
Offering private personalised Matwork and Reformer classes tailored to each client. The studio also offers small group Matwork classes.
Classes are available for all; beginner, intermediate, pre/post natal and those recovering from injury.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR


Michelle began practicing Pilates over 15 years ago and gained a new found love for the method. Previously Michelle studied Design at University and gained her BA (Hons) Contemporary Decorative Crafts in 2007. Fascinated by the biomechanical techniques present in Pilates which inspired a career change in 2017 she certified as a STOTT PILATES® Mat instructor having completed her training in London. She has gone on to further her Pilates training completing courses to teach Pre & Post-natal classes, as well as being certified in Injury and Special Populations. In 2021 she moved from the UK to Cape Town, South Africa, and completed her STOTT PILATES® Reformer training course and is now certified as a STOTT PILATES® Reformer instructor.

GETTING THE MOST OUT OF CLASSES AT SHELL PILATES


New clients are required to take an initial private class to assess their specific requirements. This includes a postural analysis and an introduction to the basic principles, which ensures classes can be tailored to each individual effectively and will help clients achieve their goals with more ease.

REFORMER PILATES

Private Reformer classes are taught following the STOTT PILATES® Essential and Intermediate repertoire, and take place on a Merrithew V2 Max professional Reformer. Working in a one to one environment means the instructor can modify and support you through your own tailored program of exercises helping you to reach your fitness goals.

MATWORK PILATES

Teaching the STOTT PILATES® mat repertoire at Essential and Intermediate levels. Group matwork classes are small, and are modified to support and challenge clients to get the most out of the exercises.

PRE & POST NATAL PILATES

Taught on the mat, specific exercises that are safe and suitable for you during your pregnancy journey and for when you are ready to return to exercise post birth.
